Hi, I’m Rob, and welcome to Zero Day Café.
I’ve spent more than 3 decades working in IT, across a world that never stops changing. My background covers the design, configuration, and management of Windows environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and all the behind the scenes services that keep networks running. Over the years I’ve gained plenty of hands-on experience with Group Policy, SCCM, and more recently, Microsoft 365, Azure, and Intune.
Security has always been a big part of what I do. From tightening up network access and patching policies to managing modern cloud security through Microsoft Defender and Conditional Access, I’ve seen how quickly threats evolve, and how important it is to keep up.
After closing my own business a few years ago, I chose to return to IT support. It wasn’t about stepping back but reconnecting with the technology itself, rebuilding my knowledge, and keeping pace with the shift toward cloud and zero-trust security models. Since then, I’ve earned new certifications in Microsoft 365, Azure, Security, and AI and continued developing my skills around modern IT, Firewalls and defence-in-depth practices.
Zero Day Café is where I share what I’ve learned and what I’m still discovering. The aim is simple, to make cybersecurity and IT easier to understand and far less intimidating. Whether you’re a home user looking for practical ways to stay safe online, an IT enthusiast exploring new tools, or someone just starting out in tech, I hope you find something here that helps you stay informed, secure, and confident in your digital life.
